Carcanphorous Sea

I′ve made oceans

From my fingertips

When I drown, it'll be a peaceful thing

Foam will rupture

Iridescently

My arms, my legs, and my skin

But as I lay dying

You came and took my hand

And you showed me the ways of the land

You cooked my bones apart

And saw my lonely pearl

Where a heart was supposed to be

You held it up

Like some prized trophy

Your hand came down but I yelled

A plea

Let′s count to three and we'll leave this sea behind

There's a rainbow bridge on the other side

Let′s count to three and I′ll take your metal hand

I just don't think I′m ready to leave my family

I make islands

From my fingertips

But they sink to the ground

Like buried treasure

And there's a colony

Of crystal cephalopods

Bivalve, squid, and towers of yarn

I could blow it up

A simple lightning strike

But sometimes I′m the god

Who never acts on his pride

Let's count to three and we′ll leave this sea behind

There's a rainbow bridge on the other side

And yet I can't take your metal hand

And yet I can′t jump to your perfect land

I just don′t think I'm ready to leave my family

No I don′t think I'm ready

To leave my family

Tell me when you′re ready to depart,

Tell me when you're ready to depart
